November 2021 President’s Letter
Hello members and friends of Knoxville Chapter 92 of the AFWA!
Welcome to the 2021-2022 AFWA business year! We had hoped, as did many of you I’m sure, we’d be looking at Covid from a much more distant rear view by now. While that has not exactly happened, we are pleased that serious progress has and continues to be made. The board has been working behind the scenes to revitalize and reenergize the chapter to meet the growing and changing needs of our members. The national AFWA leadership has also been hard at work researching, polling and putting together tools, events and other items to better meet the changing and growing needs of all members. I am excited at the changes that have and will be coming across all chapters as well.
One thing the board knows for sure, it has been way too long since we have seen all of your smiling faces! For those of you that are comfortable with in person events, we have two this week. First is a chapter social, free to all attendees and their spouse/guest on Thursday, Nov 11 from 5- 7 at Water Into Wine on Campbell Station Rd. Pop in and out for a quick meet & greet with other members, our speakers for Friday’s conference and the generous sponsors who have made this event possible. Please click on this link to learn more and register to attend. We do ask you to register so we can have an estimated count for the food. We will have a door prize for all registered attendees!
The second event this week is our 9th annual CPE seminar on Friday, Nov 12. This event includes a virtual option for those who are not comfortable attending a live event. Up to 8 hours of CPE are available with a dual track to choose from. If you have not yet registered, please considering joining us for an outstanding panel of presenters including 3 from out of state. One of my favorite topics this year is all about virtual currency! I will be looking forward to hearing what your favorite was at the end of Friday!
To give you a taste of what’s to come after this week, here’s a short list:
- January 2022: Federal tax update (because they haven’t been doing anything at the last minute…)
- February: A Wine Tasting @ Total Wine This event is limited to only 20 attendees. So be sure to sign up asap when registration open sup just before tax season really gets cranking
- Late April: Painting With A Twist – to celebrate the end of tax season
- And more to follow!
All of the above events are FREE to local CHAPTER MEMBERS. If you have been on the fence about joining the chapter, this is the time to join! Thanks to our generous sponsors and the success of our seminars, events will be free or greatly reduced for Knoxville chapter members. Even more benefits are in the planning stages for chapter members. If your company has 5 or more individuals interested in joining, group discounts are available. Please contact me for further information on the discounts.
I hope to see you all on Thursday evening!
